The Colorado Court of Appeals said Thursday that a Mesa County judge was correct in rejecting a new trial for a man convicted in the 1998 slaying of a Gypsum teenager. Jason Garner, 38, is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for his 2004 jury trial conviction for first-degree murder in the slaying of 18-year-old Coty Vernon.
