The appointment of a veteran public servant known for getting things done shows the Downtown Development Authority is serious about partnering with local builders to construct private, mixed-use housing in the city's original square mile. When successful, the development will draw more people to live downtown at market prices, which in turn will boost economic opportunity for downtown merchants and professionals, said John Schneiger, the DDA's new executive director.
