The former marshal with the town of De Beque, a career law enforcement officer with a controversial background who was fired earlier this month, allegedly pocketed $5,000 after selling a patrol vehicle that was donated to De Beque last fall by the Garfield County Board of Commissioners, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation arrest warrant affidavit. Michael James Lorsung, 45, told a CBI agent he felt like an "idiot" when confronted with details that ultimately led to his arrest Thursday on a CBI warrant listing felony counts of embezzlement of public property, theft, forgery and misdemeanor counts of first-degree official misconduct and second-degree perjury.
