A Grand Junction parolee who had six prior felony convictions when he was arrested in 2013 in connection with the fatal beating of a man who was left to die in a local street was sentenced Monday to serve 52 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Christopher Jompp, 36, was acquitted at trial last December in Mesa County of second-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old John Hage, but found guilty of second-degree assault, robbery and escape, as well as sentence-enhancing habitual criminal counts.
