A 50-year-old man who was sentenced to a work release program by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office but who failed to show up for about a year both lost his chance to participate in the now-defunct program, and gained a new felony charge after being arrested by officers responding to a verbal disturbance on Thanksgiving Day. Travis J. Falls allegedly tried to flee, lied to deputies about his identity and fought them while they were putting him in handcuffs, an affidavit for his arrest said.
