A Fruita woman who received government assistance for several years while her household income was more than $100,000 has been sentenced to five days in jail and ordered to pay nearly $58,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to a single count of theft. Damie Joan Colter, who was initially charged with 17 counts that included theft, perjury and attempt to influence a public servant, tearfully apologized to Mesa County District Judge Valerie Robison Wednesday morning before being sentenced.
