A highly trained tracking dog that searched for Paige Birgfeld about a month after her 2007 disappearance alerted to her scent in front of her accused killer's workplace, but it couldn't find an "exit track" out of the area, the dog's handler said Thursday in court. Sarah Platts, a Virginia resident who volunteers as a dog trainer and handler for several search and rescue nonprofit agencies, told jurors hearing the first-degree murder trial against Lester Jones that her certified tracking dog Ben followed Birgfeld's scent to Bob Scott RV at 2308 Grand Park Drive, but couldn't find a path leaving the business.
