U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton is proposing releasing three areas in Mesa, Delta and Jackson counties from further consideration for designation as wilderness areas, an action he says would get them out of land-management limbo. Tipton's Western Colorado Wilderness Study Area Release Act, or H.R. 5570, would apply to the North Sand Hills Instant Study Area in Jackson County, the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Study Area in Mesa and Delta counties, and the Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness Study Area in Mesa County.
