A man who had been released from Mesa County Jail only 15 minutes earlier threatened to rob a City Market because he wanted to go back to jail where he felt "safe and stable," according to the Grand Junction Police Department. Terry Betts, 39, who got his wish and was arrested, at one point asked a store clerk what was taking so long for police to respond to the 8 a.m. incident Sunday at City Market, 200 Rood Ave. Betts told store employees at the service counter that he had a gun and asked for pen and paper to write a note stating that he was robbing the store and demanded money, according to police.
