Forty-one county sheriffs, including 12 from the Western Slope, sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking him not to transfer military detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Colorado prisons. The letter came a day before the U.S. Senate gave final approval Tuesday to the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes language saying that no money from it can be used to transfer or release those detainees onto U.S. soil.
