A former student at Mesa State College, now Colorado Mesa University, made a first appearance in a Mesa County courtroom on Friday, accused of downloading sexual images of children while connected to the Internet at the university library in 2013. Christopher James Ortega, 24, of Denver, faces multiple felony counts of sexual exploitation of children, after an investigation of his activities in 2013 while a student at the school allegedly revealed that Ortega downloaded numerous videos and images of children engaging in sexual acts.
