Folks who need to get between Gateway and Grand Junction by crossing the intersection of Colorado Highway 141 and the railroad tracks near U.S. Highway 50 better do so today before 6 p.m., as road work will completely shut the intersection overnight. The lengthy detour to get to towns like Gateway, Uravan, Nucla and Naturita is nearly 200 miles long, so all traffic needing to cross the tracks at Highway 141 will need to get across before work on the tracks begins at 6 p.m. The closure is expected to be 12 hours long, with a partial re-opening of the road by Thursday at 6 a.m. On Thursday, traffic will be able to pass through, but not without delays.
