The operators of a wastewater disposal facility that neighbors say has emitted a nighttime stench that has permeated their homes off and on for the last year will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Lands End Fire Protection District, 34980 Pronghorn Drive in Whitewater. Neighbors to the Deer Creek facility at 5180 U.S. Highway 50, owned by Alanco Energy Services, say they began to notice the stench last May. Operators confirmed some organic materials in one of the facility's evaporation ponds turned anaerobic, meaning the pond wasn't circulating enough oxygen.
