The Colorado Legislature's Joint Budget Committee is debating how to fund and distribute 100 new caseworker jobs across the state's county departments of human services - including the two or three positions Mesa County Department of Human Services hopes to nab. The state decided to consider adding funding for additional caseworkers following the release last August of a Child Welfare Workload Study that suggested Colorado counties should have 547 more caseworkers to help handle increased workloads.
